On Saturday I had the great pleasure of representing The Crescent Supper Club at My Home Supper Club’s ” Indian Summer Vegetarian Feast ” evening. Calum and Jethro were holding the fort at my flat with guests of our own, so my friend and I set off in the pouring Edinburgh rain to taste the delights to be served up by Aiofe and her guest chef Meena.
We were welcomed into their lovely flat by Damian and Aiofe offering us a very pretty cocktail, which was based on grapefruit vodka, delicious!
Once all the guests arrived we were served the first tasty bite, Dohkra with chutney and pretty little puri, it was so delicious, we couldn’t wait to see what would come next!
The starter was Chaana Chat, which was yummy too, but I cant tell you what was in it! The main of Tomato and Aubergine curry and Sag Paneer was served on our plates but the cumin potatoes ,chutney and dahl were served in lovely dishes for us to hand round and share, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. Everyone loved it all and one of the guests , Eddie, could not get enough of the cumin potatoes!
The creamy dessert was served in tea cups, a lovely end to the best indian food I have eaten in along time! Then a second dessert called Falooda arrived in cocktail glasses!
Meena, Aiofe’s friend from Mumbai, who helped her cook,is opening her own supper club very soon. That too will be worth a try! Watch out for it soon.
